The Gift

I am writing this with an abstract state of mind. A gift is something which we give to others without any expectations of receiving anything in return otherwise it becomes a trade. What is the best gift which one can give to the person he/she loves? The best gift of God to humans is the capability to Love.

It was Lanza's birthday and she received one such gift from Ruggiero, the person she loved the most. She felt really special and was very happy that day because that was something she never thought she could ever afford as the gift was very expensive.

It was difficult for Ruggiero also to afford the gift but since Lanza was his princess and her smile and happiness was the biggest gift for him, he tried his best to buy the gift, worked day and night to earn more and finally he was able to get that gift. Lanza used to feel like a princess whenever Ruggiero's gift was with her. Few years passed like that, the gift was delicate and fragile but she took good care of the gift and kept it very nicely.

Everything was very nice until one fine day when Lanza was going to her work, suddenly some unusual reflexes happened and she dropped the gift and it got broken. Lanza got very scared and she picked up all the broken parts and assembled and kept it in her bag. She didn't tell Ruggiero about the broken gift. Now Lanza always used to be sad and worried all the time that what would happen if Ruggiero will come to know about the gift that its broken...

Ruggiero noticed Lanza's behavior to be different and he asked her repeatedly that what is wrong. In response, she used to smile and says nothing. One night she decided that she'll tell Ruggiero about the gift that it's broken. She slept thinking about how she'll reveal the truth of gift.
"Ruggiero, I broke the Gift!" Lanza said. Ruggiero looked at him and said angrily, "How can you do this to me, Lanza? Do you have any idea how hard I worked to get this gift, I worked day and night so that I can buy it for you and you broke it! You disappointed me Lanza and you didn't respect my love also". Lanza was speechless and felt really sad, she never thought that Ruggiero will be so angry with her. She started crying and left the place immediately.

Lanza opened her eyes, it was morning and she thought about last night. It was a dream and she still has to tell Ruggiero about the gift. She called Ruggiero and asked him to come to the beach where they always use to meet. She was sitting on the sand thinking all possible ways that how she'll tell her sweetheart and how will he react. Ruggiero came and sat beside her. She smiled and started, "Ruggiero, I really missed you all these days and now instead of running from you I want to tell you one thing." "Tell me, Sweetheart, what happened? is everything all right?" Ruggiero asked. Lanza burst into tears and said," the gift broke accidentally, I am sorry, I never wanted to break it, that was the best gift anyone gave me ever and it was more special because you gave me that. Please forgive me." Ruggiero didn't said anything and was looking at big drops of tears flowing on Lanza's cheeks. He came close and kisses her tears on her cheek and said," You are my biggest Gift Lanza and I cannot see you like this. Don't cry, that gift was not immortal, we have memories of that gift and all the moments when I was trying to get that gift for you and working hard, all those memories are special for me and above everything, you are the most valuable person in my life. I cannot see you crying like this."

Lanza asked, " You are not angry?" Ruggiero kissed Lanza's forehead and said, "I can never be angry with you Lanza! you are the love of my life. I love you so much. Will you marry me?" Lanza started smiling, all the time she was worried about the moment that how Ruggiero will react after knowing about the git, that same moment became the best moment of her life, the most gifted moment of her life.

"Yes!" said Lanza.

Both hugged each other and after two months on the same beach, both of them got married. Hope they lived happily ever after.
